The Summer of Search

2007 is my Summer of Search. I'm taking the Searching Electronic Databases class (in which I get to experience the joys of Dialog searching), I'm meeting once a week with one of our librarians (who is a kick ass searcher) for an ongoing tutorial in MEDLINE searching, and our entire reference staff will have Search Camp twice a month all summer (we will concentrate on MEDLINE searching and using clinical tools like Up To Date and MDConsult). I'm also teaching an Ovid MEDLINE Basics class and an Advanced Google class. Will I be any smarter by the end of the summer? Maybe not, but I hope I'll be a better searcher.

How evil are you?

This is good, right? Better than being totally evil, I hope? I found out about this quirky little quiz from Life As I Know It.

Compassion @ Your Library

Once again, I have to acknowledge the wonderful Feel-Good Librarian blog. Today, the FGL posted a moving story about how she manifests kindness and compassion at her library. The FGL reminds us that the raison d'etre for libraries isn't about books or information, but instead is about people.
